Ideally I would like to use these pages to share some information about myself and the important people, events and places of my life. I currently limit myself to the latter, given the levels of unhetical and malicious use that can be done with information posted in the Internet. Hopefully in the future I will be able to safely share something more.

  • Padua, my hometown. This is the city I where I was born and spent my chilhood and youth. No matter how much I have been around the World, and how much more I might do in the future, Padua is the place to which I feel more deeply and intimately connected. This city nourished me and helped me to become the very man I am. I did not realize how much of a gift was my living in Padua until I moved out of it permanently. But now I know and every time I come back I am truly moved by how special and truly beautiful this city is.
  • Irvine, California. After I completed my studies at the University of Padua, I had the opportunity to get a MS/PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. Could I say no to that? So for five years I lived in this gorgeous place. While it lacks the vibrant and rich history of an old European city, this place is blessed by one of the best weather one can dream of, it is clean, it is quiet, and yet it has so much to offer in terms of lifestyle, both on its own and by being relatively close to Los Angeles and San Diego. Here I had the time of my life and and did things, like country dancing, I still treasure today.
  • Columbus, Ohio. Once finished my PhD in Irvine, I moved to Columbus to work as a post-doctorate researcher in The Ohio State University. Superficially Columbus may not look much glamorous, but some parts of it are really nice and it is a good place to live. Most important, this is where I met my wife and where we started our family life. We both have fond memories of it.
  • Singapore: certainly one of the greenest, cleanest, and safest cities of the World. Soon after our marriage, I was offered a research position at the National University of Singapore. We decided this would be a good place to start a family since Singapore is conveniently located between Europe and the Philippines and it has a good blend of Asian and European cultures and traditions. We lived in Singapore for more than eleven years and our sons were born and started attending school here. This is a excellent place to live if one does not mind its hot and humid weather and the somewhat high cost of living.
  • Oxford, United Kingdom is the city close to which I currently work and live. Life had me make a big circle around the World to end up in a town of old, dear Europe which in many ways parallels that where everything started: the university's vibe, the old buildings loaded with history, the compact city centre that can be enjoyed by just walking around. After years of permanent equatorial climate, I also relish the seasonal changes of the Oxfordshire countryside which I can observe and appreciate in my daily commutes to and from work.
